Printer profiles and routing

Open POS → More → Settings → Hardware → Printers/Profiles, or Admin → Settings → Printers. The pending-document confirmation described below requires the matching POS version; updating the API alone does not add it to an older installation.

Find an Epson printer on the local network

  1. Connect the iPad or Victa and the supported Epson printer to the same local network. Switch on the printer and check its paper and cover. Your account must have access to printer settings.
  2. Open POS → More → Settings → Hardware → Printers and select Scan network. Opening the page can also start a scan. Wait until the scan finishes.
  3. On iPad, allow Local Network access when iOS asks. If the first scan is empty after granting permission, run Scan network again. If access was denied, enable it for FoodyPOS in iPad Settings, then retry.
  4. Check the discovered model and IP address. Users with printer-management permission can register discovered printers and assign their profiles; read-only printer access does not register devices.
  5. If Scan network is disabled with a notice, the installed build does not enable automatic discovery. Existing configured printers still work. Use Connect a printer → Select a printer → Advanced printer configuration → Epson printer to enter its IP address, or install the supported update when distributed.

If no printer is found, check that the Wi-Fi allows local device communication and that the devices are not on isolated guest networks. Manual IP entry remains available when broadcast discovery is blocked. Discovery does not prove printing: deliberately run one test and check the paper before requesting another copy.

Create or edit a shared profile

Managers can create/edit, disable/reactivate or delete shared profiles. New profiles begin with supported job types off: enable receipt, onsite or online tickets deliberately. A shared edit affects assigned devices; deletion removes routing metadata, not physical printers or job history.

Set ticket options

Configure categories, one item per ticket, kitchen names, combining identical items, footer, margins, new-category behavior, copies, recipient details, font size and sorting where offered. Common settings are shared within one profile. Save explicitly; failed saves retain your draft.

Assign the right printer

In Admin assign installation/printer mappings to the intended active profiles. Disabling a profile suspends routing while preserving the assignment. Editing a profile does not replace device mappings. Verify the actual transport and printer identity before a deliberate development test ticket. On the POS, open More → Settings → Hardware → Printers, select the printer, then Assign profiles. Assign the existing shared profile for this POS installation; another iPad or Portable's assignment does not configure this one. If pending documents are reported when adding a profile or using Quick setup, Foody asks before continuing. View history leaves the assignment unchanged and opens read-only history; Cancel changes nothing. Confirm only after checking the queue and paper: waiting jobs may print when routing resumes. The action never itself cancels jobs, requests reprints or collects payment. A restaurant change or loss of printer-management permission before confirmation abandons the assignment.

Edit a profile on a handheld terminal

Open More → Hardware → Printers → Profiles, select the profile and choose Edit. The editor fills the mobile screen. Choose Receipts, In-person tickets or Online tickets to open its options. The switch enables that document type in the draft; select categories under Categories to print. Remove top margin preserves the bottom setting; the bottom margin remains separately editable. Shared profile preferences apply across its ticket types. Return to the editor and Save; leaving a changed draft asks for confirmation, and a failed save retains it. Automatically including new categories does not mean automatically printing new orders. Installation assignments remain separate from the shared profile.
