Modifiers and selection rules
Admin → Items & menus → Modifier Sets
Create a reusable group
Create a named option/modifier group and add its choices. Set required/optional selection and allowed minimum/maximum counts, then save.
Show POS modifier operators
In Admin → Items & menus → Modifier Sets, open the group and Settings. Use conversational modifiers in POS is off by default. Off: only the group’s values appear, without the Add, Extra, No and other operator palette. On: both the handheld terminal and iPad show the colored operators allowed by Verbs shown; an empty list retains all verbs. Choose an operator and then a value. Save the group, then reload the POS catalogue before checking a new item editor: on mobile, open Overview with the house and pull to refresh; on iPad, fully relaunch FoodyPOS outside an ongoing operation. An already open editor does not update instantly. This group setting is separate from an item’s quick-entry setting, which controls opening customization and does not enable the palette. Republishing the menu is not required for this group setting.
Set price adjustments
Enter modifier price deltas relative to the item price. Variant prices are absolute replacements; do not use the two interchangeably. Options is a separate library entry; see Variants and sizes for size sets and their absolute prices.
Link groups to items
Open the item editor, attach the reusable groups and order the choices. Verify defaults, selection limits and the final cart price on each enabled channel.
Configure guest notes
Where a choice offers a customer-note prompt, configure its label/requirement and test the guest form. Guest-only prompts do not require staff to complete the same fields.
Shared choices and carte publication
Carte membership, groups, order, channels and hours now use a private draft: Save draft, Preview, then explicit Publish. Shared product details remain in the item library. On a publication-managed carte, choose item membership from the carte draft instead of the product group picker. Initial quantities for a rotating series are prepared separately from live recipe/ingredient stock. See Menus and groups and Availability for preparation, history and recovery.
Access the new controls
Carte availability is now directly clickable beneath an item name. When the sale allowance is exhausted, enter the remaining quantity; committed orders are preserved. Review the availability procedure before changing sale stock.
Change availability from Items
The Items library Availability column also opens the small panel shared with Cartes. Choose a status or remaining stock and Apply; simply opening it changes nothing. The current series is displayed when applicable. See Categories and items for choices, per-size quantities, cancellation and error recovery. Full item settings retain their own Save action.
Condition actual modifier groups
Conditions remain available for actual modifiers, such as offering an extra only for a particular format. In the item, under Customizations, attach the group and open Conditions and display. Under Show this group according to, choose an independent priced format or an independent single-choice modifier group. Set its position count per choice: 0 or an unlisted choice hides the group, 1 shows it once, and 2–12 creates required single-choice positions. Save within this panel; these rules apply only to this item. Prices remain deltas added to the item or format price. Sources cannot themselves be conditional; remove dependent conditions before detaching one. For Number Cake characters use option groups under Variants and sizes, preserving their role as variant dimensions without surcharges. Existing modifier groups are not converted automatically.
