Setting Up Modifiers

What Are Modifiers?

Modifiers are customization options attached to a menu item. Examples:

  • "No onions" (free removal)
  • "Extra cheese" (+₪5)
  • "Cooking level: Rare / Medium / Well done" (required choice)
  • "Add-ons: Avocado +₪8, Bacon +₪10" (multi-select optional)

Creating a Modifier Group

Modifier groups are created centrally and then linked to any number of items.

  1. In FoodyAdmin, go to Menu → Modifiers.
  2. Click Add Modifier Group.
  3. Give the group a name (e.g., "Cooking Level", "Add-ons", "Extras").
  4. Add options:
    • Option name: what the customer sees
    • Price delta: +5 for +₪5, 0 for free, -3 for -₪3
  5. Set the selection rules:
    • Required: customer must pick at least one option
    • Optional: customer can skip this group
    • Multi-select: customer can pick multiple options
    • Max selections: limit how many options can be chosen
  6. Click Save.

Linking Modifiers to Items

  1. Go to Menu → Items and open an item.
  2. Scroll to the Modifiers section.
  3. Click Add Modifier Group and select from your existing groups.
  4. Repeat for each group you want to attach.
  5. Save the item.

Tip: One modifier group can be shared across many items. Create "Salad dressing" once and link it to every salad item. Changes to the group apply everywhere.

How Modifiers Appear on FoodyPOS

When a staff member adds an item to an order that has required modifiers, the modifier panel opens automatically. Optional modifier groups are accessible by tapping the item in the cart.

On the QR ordering page, customers see modifier groups inline when they select an item.

Modifier Pricing

Modifier prices are added to the base item price. The final item price shown to the customer includes all selected modifier price deltas.

Example: Burger ₪55 + Extra cheese +₪5 + Avocado +₪8 = ₪68 displayed on the receipt.
