Complete Setup Guide

This guide walks you through everything you need to do, in order to go from a fresh Foody account to a live, working restaurant.

Step 1: Accept Your Invite & Set Your Password

Foody creates your restaurant account for you. You will receive an invite email with a setup link.

  1. Click the link in the email.
  2. You will be taken to FoodyAdmin (the web dashboard).
  3. Set your password and confirm.
  4. You are now logged in as the restaurant owner.

Did not receive the email? Check your spam folder. If you still can't find it, contact your Foody representative , they can resend the invite link or share it with you directly.

Step 2: Complete Your Restaurant Profile

In FoodyAdmin, go to Settings → Restaurant Info and fill in:

  • Restaurant name: shown on receipts and your QR ordering page
  • Address: used on receipts
  • Phone number: for customer contact
  • Description: a short bio shown on your QR menu

Click Save when done.

Step 3: Choose Your Service Mode

This is the most important configuration decision. Go to Restaurant → Workflow Settings and set your Service Mode:

ModeWhen to use
Table ModeYou have a dining room with assigned tables. Orders are tied to a table number.
Counter ModeNo table assignment. Customers order at the counter or pick up (cafes, quick service).

You can also enable or disable specific order types here:

  • Pickup: customers order ahead and collect at the counter
  • Delivery: you handle your own delivery (or via Spoke)
  • Scheduled orders: customers book an order for a future time slot

You can change the service mode at any time , it takes effect immediately on FoodyPOS.

Step 4: Build Your Menu

Go to Menu in the sidebar.

4a: Create categories

  1. Go to Menu → Categories → click Add Category.
  2. Examples: "Starters", "Mains", "Drinks", "Desserts".
  3. Set the display order (lower numbers appear first).

4b: Add menu items

  1. Go to Menu → Items → click New Item.
  2. Fill in: name, price, category, description (optional), photo (optional).
  3. Toggle Available to control visibility.

4c: Create modifiers (optional)

Modifiers let customers customize items (e.g., "No onions", "Extra cheese +₪5").

  1. Go to Menu → Modifiers → click Add Modifier Group.
  2. Give it a name (e.g., "Add-ons", "Cooking Level").
  3. Add options with optional price adjustments.
  4. Mark whether the modifier is required (must choose) or optional.
  5. Link the modifier group to items on each item's edit page.

Tip: Modifier groups are reusable: create one "Salad dressing" group and link it to every salad item.

Step 5: Set Up Your Floor Plan (Table Mode only)

If you chose Table Mode, go to Restaurant → Floor Plans.

  1. Click New Floor Plan and give it a name (e.g., "Main Room", "Terrace").
  2. On the canvas, add tables and drag them into position.
  3. Name each table (e.g., T1, T2, Window, Bar).
  4. Save the floor plan.

You can have multiple floor plans for different areas (indoor, outdoor, bar).

Step 6: Configure Workflow Settings

Back in Restaurant → Workflow Settings, configure how orders flow through your kitchen:

  • Auto Send to Kitchen: when ON, orders go directly to the kitchen queue the moment they are confirmed. When OFF, a staff member must manually send them.
  • Require Order Approval: when ON, each incoming order (especially from QR) must be manually accepted before appearing in the kitchen.
  • Tips: enable to show a tip prompt at checkout.
  • Rush Mode: enable during busy service to hide estimated wait times.
  • Pickup Prep Time: set how many minutes it takes to prepare a pickup order (shown to the customer).

Step 7: Download and Log In to FoodyPOS

FoodyPOS is the iPad/Android app your staff uses at the point of sale.

  1. Download FoodyPOS from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Open the app and enter your restaurant's credentials (email + password).
  3. The app will sync your menu, floor plan, and workflow settings automatically.

From this point, your staff can start taking orders.

Step 8: Generate QR Codes (optional)

If you want customers to order from their phone (QR dine-in or pickup):

  1. In FoodyAdmin, go to Website.
  2. Customize your ordering page (logo, colors, description).
  3. Go to Restaurant → Floor Plans and open a floor plan.
  4. Each table has a QR code you can print or download.
  5. Place the QR codes on your tables.

Customers scan the QR → see your branded menu → place their order → it appears directly in FoodyPOS and the kitchen.

Step 9: Invite Your Team

Go to StaffInvite Staff Member.

Fill in name, email, and role:

  • Owner: full access including billing
  • Manager: everything except billing and owner settings
  • Staff: assigned to FoodyPOS app usage (limited admin access)

The invited person receives an email to set their password and log in.
