Move, merge and transfer items

Open the table bill or a saved item’s Options. Whole-bill movement and selected-item transfer are different actions.

Availability and access

Advanced actions appear only when the installed POS and API advertise the required capability and your role permits them. Refresh a changed bill before retrying; never create another charge to resolve an uncertain result.

Move a bill without duplicating cash

Moving or merging a bill changes its table allocation, not the physical cash already counted in a drawer. If a payment is claimed or its result is uncertain, resolve that exact payment before moving the bill. Do not use a move, merge, or payment-method correction to turn a card result into a cash sale; cash collection is recorded only when money is received on an enrolled POS with an open drawer session.

Move a bill

Choose Move, select an authorized destination and read the confirmation before saving. Reopen the destination to verify the bill and covers. Moving a financial bill does not resend food to the kitchen. A payment in progress can block movement. This saved-bill operation is distinct from changing a draft's fulfillment method: the latter never merges into a financial check. Selecting a table with one refuses and cancels the pending draft transfer without changing its source; see changing a draft's service.

Merge occupied table bills

Choose the supported merge action and an authorized unpaid target, then review both totals/covers. The visible merged bill retains the original pricing policies and food history. Review its new balance before taking a single payment. Paid or actively claimed bills cannot be merged.

Transfer saved items

Open the saved item → Options → Move, choose an existing authorized table bill and confirm. A regular quantity line moves its quoted units; isolate one portion with Split first if needed. Covers stay with their bills; moved items begin at Table at the destination. Unsent drafts and named non-table tickets are outside this saved-table path. Kitchen history and stock are not duplicated.

Select the check on the terminal

On the updated handheld terminal, open Checks with the bottom receipt icon, then use the radio selector for All checks or the intended floor. A free table asks for covers when configured; an occupied table or named check opens its existing context. Verify the displayed table and bill before Actions → Move or an eligible transfer action. The view selector and floor panning neither move nor merge a bill: only confirmation of the actual business action can do so. Dismissing the selector without choosing changes no destination.

Review independent confirmations

In a saved order’s actions, review preparation and handoff separately from payment. Handoff review selects the actual physical units; financial splitting does not multiply them. Before closure, review the exact check or financial portion and its confirmed balance. A closed scope refuses new commercial changes; another open batch is not closed by that action. See tracking and confirmations.
