Service Mode: Table vs Counter

What Is the Service Mode?

The Service Mode tells Foody how your restaurant operates at the point of sale. It affects how orders are created in FoodyPOS and how staff interact with the system during service.

You set this in FoodyAdmin → Restaurant → Workflow Settings (or Orders → Settings).

Table Mode

Best for: full-service restaurants with a dining room and assigned tables.

  • Orders are tied to a table number from your floor plan.
  • Staff tap a table on the floor plan to open or resume an order.
  • The table stays "occupied" until the bill is closed and paid.
  • Multiple orders can be open simultaneously across different tables.
  • Supports QR dine-in (customers scan their table's QR code to order directly).

Requires: at least one floor plan with tables configured in Restaurant → Floor Plans.

Counter Mode

Best for: cafes, quick-service restaurants, bakeries, food trucks, anywhere there are no assigned tables.

  • Orders are created directly without a table assignment.
  • Staff use the POS tab to start a new order and select Pickup or Delivery.
  • Orders are identified by a counter number or customer name instead of a table.
  • Faster for high-throughput service.

Switching Between Modes

  1. In FoodyAdmin, go to Restaurant → Workflow Settings.
  2. Under Service Mode, select Table or Counter.
  3. Click Save.

The change takes effect immediately on FoodyPOS when the app refreshes (or on next login).

Note: Switching from Table Mode to Counter Mode does not delete your floor plans; they are just not used while in Counter Mode.

Can I Use Both?

No. Only one service mode is active at a time. However, you can still accept pickup and delivery orders regardless of which mode is active. These order types are separate from the table/counter distinction.
